Dashboards: Live Numbers Your Agents Keep Fresh

Dashboards have a dirty secret, which is that they're photographs pretending to be windows. Someone built it, it was accurate that week, and then everyone kept glancing at it long after the person feeding it had stopped. A stale dashboard is worse than none, because it answers confidently.

That's the structural difference. A tile isn't a query someone wired up in a happier time; it's a job with a name on it. The agent that owns "Outstanding invoices" pulls from the accounts you've connected and from your collections, then writes a fresh snapshot: the KPIs, a chart if the shape wants one, a table if the detail matters. Old snapshots stick around, which is where the sparklines and the deltas come from. The tile doesn't just say 12. It says 12, down from 17, and shows the slope.

And because "done" means done here the way it does everywhere else on the platform, a tile only updates when a real run actually produced the numbers. No run, no refresh, no confident stale photograph.

Fresh on your schedule, not your memory

Hit refresh and every tile re-runs. Or set a cadence for the whole dashboard (daily, weekly, whatever the numbers deserve) and let it run without you. Tiles you'd rather not re-run automatically (the expensive deep-dive, the one that calls three APIs) can be excluded from the schedule with a toggle and refreshed only when you ask.

The cost is a number you see before you spend it

Scheduled freshness has a price, so the dashboard tells you what it is: a projected monthly cost, estimated from what each tile's last run actually cost times its cadence. Not a guess, an extrapolation from receipts. If a tile is heavier than it's worth, exclude it or slow it down. And since every tile is a work item under the hood, the per-job spend limit applies: a tile can be capped at a lifetime budget it is structurally unable to exceed.

Where it fits

Collections are where agents keep the facts; dashboards are where the facts watch you back. The pipeline collection feeds the pipeline tile. The invoice records become the receivables chart. You stop asking "can you pull the numbers" because the numbers are already pulled, timestamped, and honest about when they were last true.
