How to Connect Claude to YouTube
Your channel numbers, read and explained on a schedule. An agent holds the YouTube connection, studies what performed, and drafts the replies. Nothing gets posted to YouTube.
You can have Claude working with YouTube in about ten minutes, and you don't have to build or babysit an MCP server to get there. The practical route is a middle layer: connect YouTube to myAgents, connect Claude to myAgents, and ask for what you want in plain language. A persistent agent holds the YouTube connection, does the work, and reports back to the chat you already use.
Why not wire Claude straight into YouTube
You can, if you want to run the plumbing: stand up an MCP server, handle OAuth and token refresh, scope the credentials, and keep it all alive. You own the uptime and the security of that bridge forever, and it serves one assistant. That's fine for developers who enjoy the wiring. If you want the outcome, not the infrastructure, give the connection to an agent team instead.
The three-step setup
- Connect YouTube to myAgents. Hire an agent (it takes a couple of minutes), then link YouTube from the Connections page. You choose exactly which agents get access.
- Connect Claude to myAgents. On claude.ai: Settings, then Connectors, then add myAgents as a custom connector and approve it. The full walkthrough covers Claude Desktop, Claude Code, ChatGPT, and Gemini too.
- Ask. From Claude you can check on your team, hand work to an agent, and pull up the results. The agent does the YouTube work on its side; ask Claude to check in and it reads the reply back to you, or open myAgents and see it there.
What your agent can do in YouTube
Once connected, your agent reads your channel stats (subscribers, views, video count), lists recent uploads, pulls per-video performance, reads comment threads, and runs YouTube Analytics reports day by day over the period you ask about: views, watch time, average view duration, and subscriber change. Granting Analytics is its own choice on Google's consent screen; decline it and the channel and comment tools still work. The connection is read-only by design. The agent drafts replies, titles, and video ideas as text for you, and nothing gets posted to YouTube.
What people actually use it for
A Monday report on which videos held viewers and what it did to subscribers. A comments digest that surfaces the threads worth answering, replies pre-drafted. Title and idea drafts grounded in what your channel's numbers say performed. The wider creator playbook is in AI for YouTubers.
The part a data connector can't do
Most "connect Claude to YouTube" tools are pipes: they move data into a chat while you're sitting there. An agent is staff. It has its own schedule, so the work happens whether or not you opened a chat today, and anything that acts on the outside world runs through permissions you granted on purpose. You get a team that keeps working and a log of everything it did.
Hiring the team takes a couple of minutes and starts with free credits to try it, then from $25 a month. You stay the boss. The busywork stops being yours.
Try it on your own work
Hire your first team in about two minutes. $10 in free credits, no credit card required.
Frequently asked questions
- Can Claude connect to YouTube?
- Not out of the box. Claude needs an MCP server with YouTube API access, which means hosting, OAuth, and token refresh you maintain yourself. The myAgents route takes a few minutes: your agent holds the YouTube connection, and Claude talks to your agent.
- Can it reply to comments for me?
- It drafts the replies; you post them. The connection is read-only, so nothing reaches your channel without you doing the posting. That's deliberate: your channel's voice stays yours.
- Does it need my YouTube Analytics data?
- Only if you want the deeper reports. Analytics is a separate permission on Google's consent screen. Skip it and the agent still reads channel stats, uploads, and comments; grant it and the watch-time and subscriber-change reports open up.
