How to Connect Claude to QuickBooks
Ask who still owes you money and get the aging report, not a guess. An agent holds the QuickBooks connection and does the bookkeeping legwork.
You can have Claude working with QuickBooks in about ten minutes, and you don't have to build or babysit an MCP server to get there. The practical route is a middle layer: connect QuickBooks to myAgents, connect Claude to myAgents, and ask for what you want in plain language. A persistent agent holds the QuickBooks connection, does the work, and reports back to the chat you already use.
Doesn't Claude already connect to QuickBooks?
It does. Intuit ships an official QuickBooks connector in Claude's directory. For questions in a chat, and on plans with scheduled tasks for simple recurring jobs too, it is a genuinely good tool. We'd point you to it even if we sold nothing.
What myAgents adds is the shape of a team, not a feature toggle. Each agent is a role with its own skill and only the QuickBooks access you chose to grant it. Every run is logged and itemized. Outward permissions are per channel and per agent: some actions queue for your approval, others run as soon as you grant them, and nothing widens on its own. And agents hand work to each other, so the QuickBooks work connects to the rest of your back office instead of living in one assistant's thread. A personal assistant and a staffed office are both useful. They are not the same thing.
The three-step setup
- Connect QuickBooks to myAgents. Hire an agent (it takes a couple of minutes), then link QuickBooks from the Connections page. You choose exactly which agents get access.
- Connect Claude to myAgents. On claude.ai: Settings, then Connectors, then add myAgents as a custom connector and approve it. The full walkthrough covers Claude Desktop, Claude Code, ChatGPT, and Gemini too.
- Ask. From Claude you can check on your team, hand work to an agent, and pull up the results. The agent does the QuickBooks work on its side; ask Claude to check in and it reads the reply back to you, or open myAgents and see it there.
What your agent can do in QuickBooks
Your agent connects to your QuickBooks Online company and queries invoices, customers, bills, and payments, and pulls financial reports: P&L, balance sheet, aging. Grant write access and it can create and update customers, invoices, and other records, so the books stay current instead of becoming a quarter-end project.
What people actually use it for
A Monday cash picture: what came in, what's overdue, who to nudge. Invoices drafted from the work that actually happened. A month-end P&L summary in plain language.
Where this goes next
One agent with one connection is the starting point. The same team can hold your other tools, work them on its own schedule, and keep a log of everything it did, so the QuickBooks agent is usually the first hire, not the last.
Hiring the team takes a couple of minutes and starts with free credits to try it, then from $25 a month. You stay the boss. The busywork stops being yours.
Try it on your own work
Hire your first team in about two minutes. $10 in free credits, no credit card required.
Frequently asked questions
- Can Claude read my QuickBooks data?
- Intuit ships an official QuickBooks connector in Claude's directory. It answers QuickBooks questions inside a chat. A myAgents agent adds the standing work: invoices, customers, bills, payments, and reports that arrive on Monday without being asked.
- Can it create invoices?
- With write access, it can create and update customers, invoices, and other records. Without it, it's a read-only analyst. Your call, per agent.
- Is this a replacement for my accountant?
- No. It's the person-hours between you and your accountant: the chasing, the summarizing, the keeping-current that never had to be a human's job.
