How to Connect Claude to Todoist
The task list is only useful when something maintains it. An agent that holds the Todoist connection adds, schedules, and closes tasks so the list reflects reality.
You can have Claude working with Todoist in about ten minutes, and you don't have to build or babysit an MCP server to get there. The practical route is a middle layer: connect Todoist to myAgents, connect Claude to myAgents, and ask for what you want in plain language. A persistent agent holds the Todoist connection, does the work, and reports back to the chat you already use.
Doesn't Claude already connect to Todoist?
It does. Todoist has its own supported integration with Claude. For questions in a chat, and on plans with scheduled tasks for simple recurring jobs too, it is a genuinely good tool. We'd point you to it even if we sold nothing.
What myAgents adds is the shape of a team, not a feature toggle. Each agent is a role with its own skill and only the Todoist access you chose to grant it. Every run is logged and itemized. Outward permissions are per channel and per agent: some actions queue for your approval, others run as soon as you grant them, and nothing widens on its own. And agents hand work to each other, so the Todoist work connects to the rest of your back office instead of living in one assistant's thread. A personal assistant and a staffed office are both useful. They are not the same thing.
The three-step setup
- Connect Todoist to myAgents. Hire an agent (it takes a couple of minutes), then link Todoist from the Connections page. You choose exactly which agents get access.
- Connect Claude to myAgents. On claude.ai: Settings, then Connectors, then add myAgents as a custom connector and approve it. The full walkthrough covers Claude Desktop, Claude Code, ChatGPT, and Gemini too.
- Ask. From Claude you can check on your team, hand work to an agent, and pull up the results. The agent does the Todoist work on its side; ask Claude to check in and it reads the reply back to you, or open myAgents and see it there.
What your agent can do in Todoist
Your agent reads and writes tasks and projects: it lists and creates tasks, sets due dates, completes items, and browses projects. It's a natural fit for a personal operating system, where what you capture in a chat should become a dated task without you re-typing it.
What people actually use it for
Brain-dump a messy paragraph in Claude and get clean, dated Todoist tasks. A Friday sweep that flags stale tasks. A project review that tells you what's overdue before the week starts.
Where this goes next
One agent with one connection is the starting point. The same team can hold your other tools, work them on its own schedule, and keep a log of everything it did, so the Todoist agent is usually the first hire, not the last.
Hiring the team takes a couple of minutes and starts with free credits to try it, then from $25 a month. You stay the boss. The busywork stops being yours.
Try it on your own work
Hire your first team in about two minutes. $10 in free credits, no credit card required.
Frequently asked questions
- Can Claude add tasks to Todoist?
- Todoist has its own supported integration with Claude. That covers adding tasks from a chat. The myAgents route is for the upkeep: an agent that captures, schedules, and sweeps the list on a cadence, so it stays maintained between chats.
- Can it complete or reschedule tasks?
- It can list, create, set due dates, and complete items. Housekeeping like a weekly overdue sweep is exactly the kind of job you schedule an agent for.
- Why not just use a Todoist plugin in chat?
- A plugin works while the chat is open. A persistent agent runs on a schedule, so the list stays maintained even in the weeks you never think about it.
